In the Siphandone region, the width of the Mekong River expands and there are numerous large and small islands in the river. Hoo is a local word that refers to the channels of the Mekong River. Of the 17 major channels that are said to exist, the Hoo Sahong alone has no large rapids. Because of this, various kinds of fish pass through this channel all year round and fishing is very active in the channel. In the rainy season, large fishing structures known as li are set up in the turbulent flow of the river. In the fishing season, villagers catch fish while camping on the riverbank.
Now, the Don Sahong Dam has been constructed here and this scenery can no longer be seen.
