Phorn Muang Village has a large marsh called Sa-aa Marsh, where the villagers do a lot of fishing. There are fishing gear everywhere around the house (1). Under a house with a raised floor, a woman was working at a loom (2). The hut with no windows is a rice barn (3). In front of the house was a pile of firewood, on which were placed fishing gear called lorp (4, 5). There was also a kind of fishing gear called a sai (6). All the fishing gear was carefully woven from bamboo. A gasor is a tool used to bail water out of marshes and paddy fields (7), but the purpose of bailing out water is often to catch fish. The villagers also think of the gasor as a kind of fishing gear.
A large net called a jip is used in rivers (8, 9).
