This tool, called "yiw", is frequently seen in mid or southern Laos. The harvested raw cotton is passed between a pair of rollers rotated by turning a handle. The cotton seeds fall out of the cotton before passing through the rollers. The raw cotton is then spun into thread for making clothes.
